Bisos & Esus

The Sacred Pair - Bisos and Esus - are venerated as fertility deities and protectors -in particular of cattle. They are central deities to pastoralists whose wealth and subsistence depends on Esus’ children. Esus is intimately connected with the rhythms of Life, with her proximity to JurElsor. To her cult she has come to incarnate the life-giving aspects of Oria and Entekos; an encompassing cosmic Mother who receives her beloved herd upon Death, and assigns them roles in the next life. As the source of nourishment and matrilineal descent – she is a goddess of the society and the traditional Bisosae way of life . Bisos vanquished the enemies of Life and provided new ways of survival through the desperate Darkness. He taught the secrets of Death and the Peaceful Cut. Bisos is a god of kingship, and of the obligations of kinship. Bisos proclaimed Just War on the False King, as he had neglected “the duties of kin to kin”, premised on a right to subsistence and the obligation to kin. He is claimed as an ancestor by many proud clans who claim the right to carry arms and roam freely through his bloodlines .

As a rule of thumb; men worship Bisos and women Esus, however women can initiate in Bisos, while men cannot be priests of Esus.
